Storm Painting

I grew up in Kamchatka, in a fishing village on the shore of the Sea of Okhotsk. That's where my artistic path started. My father is a photographer and he taught me to observe, to see accents, to capture the character and texture of the environment. I liked to paint and I especially liked going to the plein air. The wild nature of Kamchatka soaked into my mind and strengthened my desire to paint. These are volcanoes, hills, geysers, extraordinary vegetation, unique phenomenon of salmon spawning, the seashore with huge basalt boulders and frequent storms. I wanted to link my future work, professional life with fine art. In 1995 I graduated from the Ural Academy of Architecture and Art, qualified as a designer and now I am engaged in graphic design, continuing my path in painting. The painting process is a kind of multidimensional record of impressions in time and space received by the artist during life. And what interests me the most in the process of work is the maximum approximation to the feeling of such multidimensionality in the picture. Every day I live adds something to the view on all the interactions happening around me and inside me. I only paint what evokes a vibrant emotion in me, romantic or dramatic, but certainly lively. I believe that painting is not just decorating a canvas with paints, but rather "recording" the emotional relationship of an artist with space around that the viewer feels looking at pictures.
