ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Poppies - oil, canvas, 45x60(cm) - (17,8x23,6”), artist: Tatjana Cechun, 2022, Vilnius. A few years ago I got the idea to combine the idea of "small Dutch" painting with modern realism. If you look closely, you can see that each section of the canvas is filled with information, the landscape in the background, the abundance of fruits that ripen at different times - this is typical of the Dutch still life. And the manner of execution and color palette are typical for modern painting.I think I got a bright, rich picture that would fit a wide frame in a classic style. The oil painting depicts beautiful poppies, a violin antique wall clock and various fruits - grapes, pomegranates and peaches. The notes are scattered across the carpet in the foreground, creating a sense of musical atmosphere. The entire composition is reminiscent of Flemish painting with its detailed depiction of objects and rich color scheme. This painting brings a feeling of warmth and comfort, and also conveys the subtle harmony between music and nature.

I was born in the capital of a small Baltic country in a family of artists 51 years ago. I've been drawing since I was a child, as long as I can remember. I was friends with a neighbor boy whose parents were also artists. That's why he and I grew up in a creative environment. Perhaps such an environment (poets, artists, musicians, artists) influenced my development. I drew always and everywhere, and often automatically (unconsciously) . At the age of 17, after graduating from high school, I, as is typical of young people, was a terrible maximalist. It seemed to me that I already know everything and know how to do everything. My parents wanted me to continue my studies at the Art Academy.
