Rodolfo V Ortiz, Spanish / American painter (Feb/24/65, Barcelona Spain) born to Otilio Ortiz Margarida who was a U.S. citizen, I was registered at the American embassy as a US citizen in Barcelona Spain, so I have never officially been a Spanish citizen as Spain did not allow dual citizenship back in the days. My qualification as a self-taught artist / painter reflects in my artwork, also to become an artist is far from just attending any art school is something one must have the passion for, is not an easy path it takes skills, creativity lot of discipline and countless hours before one can get confident as an artist, there’s also lot of sacrifice’s one must make, you have to give 100% of your time, the only thing you will live for is to make art, but the most important thing for an artist is to find that Rhythm cause once you find that Rhythm everything else just flows and the results can be rewarding. Also, an artist work should reflect on its own and without the help from the artist nor anyone else from the art-world, a good work of art will most likely give you the sense of having a soul of its own but most importantly, the ability to get its message across. I have been inspired and moved by different artists specially at the beginning of my career as a painter, but I will also have to say that growing up in New York had a lot to do with it as well, I mean what better place than New York City to learn the arts. My goal has always been to create something different and unique, a work that can be defined as one of a kind and that can easily be distinguished from one another by just observing it and without the need for the artist signature on the artwork. I myself call it Cubist Rope, and that was exactly what I have always been trying to accomplish, so there’s more to my work than just a signature on a canvas. I will also continue on improving my skills – techniques as a painter while I’m still here. I do art because that’s what I do and is part of me, and most importantly it fulfills me as a painter and not to gain recognition nor to be noticed regardless of the outcome, after all it’s all about the art. I also suffer from a rare artistic condition known as, (Creativity Syndrome) and there’s no general medicine nor cure for it but to keep making art, it’s no joke.
