I am a senior painting/drawing major (class of 2011) at Purchase College. I am currently 22 years old. My work combines Classical myth with invented narrative, though the narrative is generally a by-product of a layered political process, which involves layering "masculine" and "feminine" techniques and symbols. I am interested in appropriating -- or perhaps, more accurately, mis-appropriating -- gendered stories, styles, and symbols that are embedded in the Western canon in a way that interrogates and complicates them, while adding new characters and narratives of my own invetion.
