Darryl Steele is a self taught artist. Born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1956, he has been a member of the Nashville arts community for more than 40 years. His first One Man Show was at the Tennessee Arts Commission Gallery in 1978, and since that time, his work has been featured in exhibitions and galleries across the nation. A prolific and versatile artist who works in several genres and mediums, perhaps best known for his small watercolor landscapes or, maybe his subtle-finely detailed pencil drawings of birds- but, he also creates dramatic still life paintings, haunting portraits, and large bold mixed media abstract collage. His work has been featured in several publications- such as The Nashville Arts Magazine, N Focus Magazine, The Art of Watercolor Magazine, and Artists on Art. His paintings are included in the permanent collections of the Opryland Hotel, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nissan Corporation and in many other public and private collections across the United States as well as abroad. Mr. Steele’s work has recently been included in exhibitions at the Huntsville Museum of Art, in Huntsville, Alabama, The Clarksville Museum, in Clarksville, Tennessee, and The Pryor Gallery at Columbia State Community College in Columbia, Tennessee. His work is currently represented by Mary Williams Fine Arts in Boulder, Colorado.
