The contemporary strangeness and diversity of a number of Australian painters she developed an affinity with included Charles Blackman, Sydney Nolan and Joy Hester to name a few. Colour and spacial investigations have lived on; influencing recent works. Gibson is an exploratory painter and assemblage artist who's professional career spans over 30 years exhibiting and participating in art projects in both New Zealand and Australia.
