Rhonda Deland is a multi-media artist living in Montauk, New York. Originally from southern California, she grew up as a competitive figure skater, dancer, doodler and lover of all things design. She received her BA in communications and design at Ithaca College in NY. The next 2 decades formed her career as an art director/graphic designer in advertising and retail for brands like Saks Fifth Avenue, Avon, KitchenAid and Victorias Secret in New York City. After becoming a mom, she returned to night school at the New York Academy of Art in Tribeca to continue her art education in 2017/18. Starting in oil, moving on to acrylic and finally landing on watercolor as her preferred medium, she slowly developed her fluid style while training under watercolor artist Joan Iaconetti. Soon after, she moved her family to Montauk. Rhonda’s painting style slowly developed into what it is today; fluid, marble-like, watercolor paintings, rich in color and texture, using geometric shapes and patterns, heavily influenced by her travels and love of architecture, interior design and astronomy.
