Romance Painting

Dr. Uma Chhatrapati is a doctor, dancer , painter expanding her realms into each facet . Her dramatic ability to connect one form of art into another weaving blissful pieces of work in oil seems rather enchanting. Inspirations have been taking vent through her since childhood and she has used different mediums to express the same. Trained as a Kathak dancer from age five she pursued her dance with her eminent guru Ms Rohini Bhate - Nrityabharti Dance Academy till 1980. Having returned from the US she further pursued her dance search with eminent guru Ms. Sitara Devi from 1991-94. Uma has passed her government art examinations with accolades and uses watercolours, acrylic , oils et al. Oils is her very comfortable medium . As a doctor she practiced in the field of rehabilitation and attained Masters in the USA in the field of rehabilitation . She owned private practices in NJ, USA and Mumbai. She was a columnist for MidDay newspaper on health related topics. She has written over 20 articles on rehabilitation and health. Her spiritual search got deeper as she was inducted into siddha yog - the kundalini - its majestic mysticsm in the human body. Umas adventure with the human body became even more intrigued. Art therapy ; Colour therapy, group meditation with Siddha healing and its healing powers on patients continued to be her field of interest. Uma continues to paint figurative works in oil and has exhibited good comfort in handling other mediums in her abstract works.Her abstract works talk of her indepth spiritual search. Uma has had 23 solo shows in the city of Mumbai at eminent galleries since 1996 to date.
