ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The horse has been a recurring theme in my work, and in this instance, I've depicted a purebred Spanish horse from an unconventional perspective: from behind. In this canvas, the fusion of realism, expressionism, and abstraction is evident. I've dared to challenge conventional boundaries by introducing a bold touch of red on one of the horse's legs, which in turn gives the artwork its name. This bold gesture aims not only to capture the essence of the horse but also to provoke reflection on the relationship between tradition and innovation in contemporary art.

Artist Statement: Classifying my art is a complex task. I firmly believe that my work reflects what we learn, observe, and experience, as well as how these experiences shape us. My work is contemporary due to the time in which it develops and its deviation from the typical and classical standards of painting. I usually employ techniques of "alla prima" painting, although occasionally I also work with layers and glazes. In my figurative painting, I blend elements of realism and expressionism with abstraction. For me, art is a journey of continuous learning that knows no bounds. My painting constantly evolves, driven by curiosity, the desire to discover new techniques and effects, and the ambition to grow as an artist. Although each of my works arises from a process of meditation, analysis, preparation, technique, intuition, and execution, I always seek to convey a sense of spontaneity and freshness. Biography: Eduardo Blanco, born in the city of León, in northern Spain, in 1974, emerges as an artist who merges the energy of his childhood with the inspiration of his adult life. After a youth marked by exploration in different cities in France and Spain, he finally put down roots on the captivating island of Mallorca in 2013. From an early age, Eduardo showed a fervent interest in art, especially painting, a bond that has accompanied him throughout his life and shaped his artistic identity. Defying conventions and expectations, Eduardo forged his path as an artist self-taught. Despite graduating in Tourism, at the age of 25, he decided to reignite his passion for painting and immerse himself fully in the world of art. Eduardo has cultivated a style of his own that reflects a unique synthesis of contemporary realism. His artistic evolution has taken him from the subtle nuances of watercolor to the expressive richness of oil, exploring a territory where realism, expressionism, and abstraction converge. With a notable presence in the international art circuit, Eduardo has exhibited in prestigious venues such as New York, Venice, Brussels, Malaga, Barcelona, Madrid, and Palma. He collaborates with galleries both physical and virtual, making his mark in cities like Barcelona, Malaga, Madrid, and London. His work, sought after by collectors worldwide, adorns private collections both nationally and internationally.
