As an emerging artist from Hungary I am presently working in my studio at the Art Department of the University of Hawaii at Manoa in Honolulu. I attained my studio art degree from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in 2013 and I am also currently working on a MA thesis in Art History at the Pazmany Peter Catholic University. For me meeting new people and discovering different cultures have always been in focus. In order to get to know the world more I started to discover my neighbour European countries first, then expanded my visits to Western Europe, also traveled to Turkey and lived in Greece for 6 months. While pursuing my Art History degree I had my debut solo exhibition in Budapest, Hungary entitled ‘Report from Thuringia’ in 2014. My art has its roots in the classical academical studies I did, in which I put special emphasis on anatomy drawing. Though after graduation it became clear how I look for ways to play with abstraction while keeping some narratives to my imagery, this fundament is still particularly important for me. Stylistically my works relate a lot to expressionistic painting and drawing; and as my major in Art History encompasses the period from the late 19th century to the first half of the 20th, it is not unrighteous to say that I am inspired mainly by the premodern and early modern masters such as Manet, and Pierre Bonnard who has been considered to be the outsider painter until recently. I greatly appreciate Lucian Freud but feel deeper connections with Hungarian artists such as Tibor Csernus and Tivadar Csontvary Kosztka who I admire the most. I typically use acrylic and charcoal mixed or by their own, and claim the drawings can have the same quality as an oil painting can have. My artworks can be recognized by the dark tones used in a dynamic fashion accompanied by vivid colors. I apply visual tropes and my goal is to intensify my imagery. My works are not intended to look luxurious; any kind of pretentiousness is far away from them. Idealism and faking the beauty is definitely not something I promote. I aim to reflect on the creatures of this world through my perception throughout my journey. I believe that every 'thing' on Earth has its own character whether it is alive or not and I am interested in giving the most dense description of it.
