Prairie Skyline Painting

I have spent many years raising 6 children (always a blessing) on my own. I had 2 options on this journey - be creative or go crazy. So I tapped my creative energy in sewing fabulous outfits for my children and knitting complicated sweaters. These activities could be pick up and put down at a moment's notice, a necessity to balance my role as a mom and tend to the laundry, grocery shop, make dinner, chauffeur kids to dance lessons.... Making paintings requires a different environment. I need hours of uninterrupted time every day, not only for the painting but also for thinking about the painting. One of the best things I did was to take Art History classes. I love the research into the stories that I see in old photographs and I love being able to make connections with the images other artists have produced in the distant past. I am looking for story - a life of adventure and derring-do I use old photos, my photos. I do landscape and portraits. I am looking for a moment of time, location, season, and weather. And then I strive to make every square inch pulse with life and I don't stop until I'm satisfied, no matter how fed up I get when I'm 97% finished And I've been 97% finished for two weeks. I tell people I can paint anything, and I mean it.
