John’s new body of work, created this past year, creates tension between tranquility and disruption / uncertainty and resolve. Various narratives and metaphors are used to connect and at the same time leave an element of mystery and discovery in the quest to attain a balance that can be so illusive.

These fiberglass pieces allow for John to explore his passion for architecture as well. What is typically framing devices in the back, John has turned the framing into an abstract art piece as well to add to the visual depth of the piece - often creating either complex and/or simple structural additions to the backs of the paintings.

Using resin and fiberglass for the painting’s surface naturally creates inconsistencies and adds to the narrative. The resin can evoke tranquility and yet become disruptive - the perfect and the imperfect in the quest for balance.

This comes with a floating frame - maple wood with dove tail corners.

John Hudson is a Los Angeles based fine artist. Growing up around very influential NewYork artists, he was introduced to art and the art world at a young age. Having worked as an art assistant for several significant artists during his art school years, John gained a great deal of knowledge about the different mediums, techniques and concepts. With endless resources at hand during this time, he experimented a great deal. His path out of art school led him to tackle art direction for ad agencies and television with the fine art esthetics he embraced. As a successful art and creative director for a major studio, John was awarded five Emmy’s and numerous design awards throughout the years. During those years he never stopped working on his paintings or personal creative projects. John has now chosen the path of being a full-time fine artist and is focusing on painting.
