Martin began his artistic journey with watercolour illustrations of interiors, working in the early ’90s with London designers to develop presentation visuals for interior projects. Over time, he introduced elements of the unexpected such as figures lurking in corners, objects subtly out of place transforming otherwise factual renderings into works with greater artistic depth and intrigue. Today, Martin’s art offers a distinctive and thought-provoking perspective on the urban landscape and the human condition. Drawing from Realism, Surrealism, Magical Realism and Pop Art, he has developed a unique visual language that invites viewers to reflect and question the world around them. His compositions often blend reality with fiction, weaving together symbols, colours, and narratives inspired by real-life events, myths, and fables. His work captures the elusive beauty and mystery often overlooked, hidden in plain sight. Extensive travel fuels his creative process, providing fresh inspiration and broadening his artistic vision. Engaging with diverse cultures and environments sparks new ideas, reinforcing his global perspective one that transcends borders and embraces multiculturalism. Despite being British, Martin identifies as a true citizen of the world, valuing diversity and free thought. A die-hard critical thinker with a sharp wit, he approaches life with a mix of introspection, irony, and an unrelenting curiosity. Producing around 20 works annually, Martin has built a dedicated following among collectors in Europe and the U.S.A., earning recognition for his ability to blend storytelling, symbolism, and aesthetic beauty into compelling, thought-provoking pieces.
