Trees have long been my unlimited attention. Up to in the Alps, up to the tree line. There the trees are usually solitary survivors on the rocks. Then the rocks take over the picture. Nature is under pressure by many factors. I see that people today are looking for a way of life that provides connection and harmony with nature. I am fascinated by the value nature has for humankind itself and as metaphor for his psyche. The tree is a leading motive in my work. It is a survivor, literally and figuratively, to the tree line. This resilience and eternal value of natural processes can relate the sometimes destructive influence of man to nature. That inspires me and gives me rest, which may also apply to others. In my work, with his expressive visual language and powerful keys, the viewer can tune his mind, and derive power and energy. I work regularly on location in drawings and also oil paint. Those works sharpen my memory and bring me ideas. Colors represent the power and energy of nature. Forces that I want to bring in harmony. The colors and color contrasts make the experience of light and space, moving and intense. Thus, the experience gained by me in nature is expanded and strengthened on the canvas. My ceramics are increasingly evolving into an expressive struggle between tree and rock. I work in my studio in Arnhem
