Midnight Dream Painting

My journey as a self-taught abstract and impressionist painter started in May 2018 for practical reasons. Throughout my life I had been mesmerized by the colors and composition of painters like Gerhard Richter, Kandinsky, Miro and Monet. I tried to paint some large paintings to stage my house for rent and realized I loved the process of expressing my inner emotions through colors and shapes on the canvas. Thrilled with the process, I created more paintings, some better than others, learnt about color theory, composition, tried, failed and tried again to improve techniques. With no formal training but a firm commitment to my sense of esthetic and intuition, I have since become a professional painter and have sold my artwork throughout the United States, Canada, Asia and Europe. Some highlights in my professional career as an artist include the following: • I was commissioned for a large water lily painting, Fairy’s Cove II, for one of the salons of the Chicago Waldorf Astoria. • Four of my paintings are being used to create colorful and original apparel for the worldwide-known retailer SHEIN. The fashionable clothes were part of the SHEIN Summer 2024 collection. • Red Poppy has been reproduced in a large 36” x 36” framed canvas format for the luxury home décor line Grayson Living. • Poppy Field, Wild Flower Meadow and Summer Field are currently being distributed as large canvas prints throughout the US at TJ Max and Home Goods Stores. • Some of my paintings have been featured in various galleries in the DC area including the Hill Gallery in Capitol Hill, D.C and at the TTR Sotheby’s offices in Chevy Chase, DC. • Pas Trop Loin de Toi was selected in the Stroke of Genius national painting competition juried by Raoul Middleman and featured at the Circle Gallery in Annapolis in 2019. Painting is my now my passion. I was born and raised in France, but my father was from Nicaragua a beautiful country I have visited numerous times. my abstract paintings, I like to evoke feelings of freedom, liveliness and transformation. Through hyper color contrast and dynamic composition, I try to create movement and instability on my canvas. I thrive on spontaneity, and value adaptability and flexibility. I am fascinated by abstract painters like Gerhard Richter and Vassily Kandinsky. Armed with my fancy squeegee and various painting knives, I use techniques from both painters to create colorful imaginary forests and landscapes.
