PETER SCOT DUGOVIC Born on December 31, 1965. Peter was shortly adopted into a family of 9, on a small farm in Honeoye Falls New York. New York City was where he spent his formative years as a bicycle messenger and sign painter. It was here where he gained an appreciation for gritty urban scenes, wooded areas and solid endeavors. Those early observations now reflect themselves in most of his paintings. Peter is primarily a self-taught artist though he studied Printmaking and Sculpture at both SUNY Genesco and SUNY Purchase. His education was followed by a move with his family to Kennebunk Maine after which he worked as a carpenter and proprietor of his own store. During this time he gravitated back to his artwork and in 2009 he began his career as professional artist. Peter paints from childhood memories as well as from present experiences. His techniques are complex and result in scenes that are compelling and exclusive. Taking time to build his stretches, stretch canvases and mix his own paints, when viewing Peters work, one can see the undertone of temperance fueled by passion. A true reflection of himself, and can be seen throughout his work time and time again. Peter makes his home in the quiet and secluded back woods of Wells Maine. He allocates his time accordingly as a professional artist and carpenter. The artist has been a part of solo and group exhibitions and has shown in New York City, Long Island, NY, Kennebunk, ME, and Amesbury, MA. Private collections include NY, MD, CA, CT, GA, ME, and Hong Kong.
