VIEW IN MY ROOM
“Lady in Red” has been inspired by the film Eyes Wide Shut and shows a specific moment as if captured on camera. The woman in my painting is getting dressed for a special occasion which could be for a swinger party, a show, or simply for her partner. She is almost ready and about to put her shoes on. I intended to capture just that moment when a woman is about to put on that “other role”. This unique moment shows transition – maybe from an ordinary woman or housewife to a sexy, mysterious temptress. That she is still “ordinary” shows the rather plain background highlighting her appearance even more. The painting captures the moment when someone just pressed the shutter button and through the flash she is put in the right light. Her corsage and gloves are reflecting the light – suggesting that the fabric she is wearing is silk. Also, she is looking up for that shot, interrupting her while tying her high heels. Her gaze is direct, and although wearing a face mask, she does not seem to hide.

Lena Snow is a fine artist based in Germany who currently has her studio in a small town on the edge of the Black Forest (near Baden-Baden) where she is working on her latest artworks while keeping in touch with nature. Lena is specialized in female portraiture and sensual art with her main medium being paper. She earned a Master's degree at the University of Mannheim and Karlsruhe. "I explore various aspects of femininity and female identity in my paintings. My inspiration are personal stories of women I encountered, but also female characters in mythology, film, and literature. They are a new, powerful, and emancipated approach of one’s identity and sexuality, and at the same time they stand for empowerment for all women. For a long time only men have painted women, neglecting their personal stories of ambivalence, trauma and multifaceted nature, but it is time that women change the narrative and capture their unique stories by contributing to a new, empowered expression of elevated femininity." Lena has exhibited internationally, and has been published in several art and lifestyle magazines around the world. The award-winning artist is also editor of the international art magazine Goddessarts Magazine.
