Guillo Pérez, III’s personal artistic technique, "Bauhaus Budo," has been developed over a lifetime. Raised in the arts, he was inspired by his grandfather, world renowned master painter Guillo Pérez, and his father, master painter, educator and psychologist, Willy Pérez, who has been Director of the family fine arts academy in the Dominican Republic, Escuela Taller Guillo Pérez, since 1984. () Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in NYC, Guillo studied graphic design in New York City, at Wood Tobé-Coburn and marketing and fine arts in Santo Domingo at the Escuela Taller Guillo Pérez and at the Universidad APEC. Having studied with master painter Vidal Suares, design mentor and creative director George Gaw, art histrorian Laura Gil, master retoucher Bob Serpe, Guillo also honed his technical drawing and compass skills with Miguel Simott. He spent many hours developing his method through work with the Emory family, John Steelman, Peter Botti, Theo Wjick, Paul Tabio Rina Cavicci and many others. Besides the oil painting that infused his childhood, Guillo has spent nearly half of his life working in and learning from interconnected fields and nurturing his aesthetic. His budo, or battle-hardened way, was forged through the Bauhaus aesthetic of bringing a total artwork to life. Thus through continually founding new community sanctuaries for arts education and permeating them with history, performance, green solutions, leadership training, community building and caretaking, design, healing, martial arts, literature, music, photography, and so much more, he shapes his world and his art. Guillo sets out to aggressively construct fine art from the totality of the varied fragments of his life. Guillo's extensive hands on experience and training is rare in art history, a privilege he has never taken for granted, and along with love, fellowship and compassion, it has been a driving force enabling him to spend his lifetime dedicated to the eternal pursuit of skill and knowledge of the arts.
