My art explores light, color and the essence of places, people and narratives that challenge and give the pleasure of discovery—a complex world that includes magical thinking. Mythology, poetry and art inform, inspire and enhance my creations. I aim to capture a sliver of time, an emotion or idea, then fatten it with space, figures and images that expand and dramatize that experience bringing it to life. By using formal and informal tools, I push the movement within the painting, defining and giving expression to the essence of that space and subject matter. My desire to embrace the chaos—by composing, decomposing and recreating—best describes my process/non-process and leads me to discover utterly different results. Layering of paint, allowing line, light and color to filter and rework sketches gives birth to new ideas and experiences that intrigue, inspire, and awaken. I long for you the viewer to discover a truth that lies within, a story that is your own, perhaps a moment you’ve experienced or even longed for.
