GÖKNİL GÜMÜŞ SUNGURTEKİN Conceptual Essence Narrative Expressionist (CENE) Pioneer Artist & Contemporary Turkish Master Artist • Award-Winning Artist • Grand Artist Award Winner • First Turkish Female Naval & Navy Artist • Marmara University Fine Arts Institute, Painting Department, MA • International Exhibitions & Art Fairs Participant • Works in Private Collections Worldwide « I'm an Expressionist artist. My art is what I am: energetic, enthusiastic, passionate, genuine, honest, ambitious, brave, strong, warrior, valuable, meaningful and expressive. ». Artistic Identity & Vision Göknil Gümüş Sungurtekin (b.1977, Turkey) is an award-winning contemporary artist known for her emotionally charged and intellectually layered paintings. She is the pioneering force behind Conceptual Essence Narrative Expressionism (CENE) — a distinctive artistic philosophy that merges raw expressionism with narrative depth, emotional memory, and symbolic abstraction. Her art is not only visual, but an intimate emotional and philosophical experience — a journey from canvas to soul. Drawing inspiration from inner landscapes, subconscious worlds, and transformative life stories, she creates deeply personal yet universally resonant works. Recognition & Influence Göknil is the first Turkish Female Naval Painter, awarded by the Turkish Naval Forces in 2004. Her service as an Honorary Major aboard the Turkish Navy ship Salih Reis Frigate enriched her perspective, and the renowned Wardroom Series & Root Series are the artistic fruit of this exceptional experience. In 2023, she was honored as a World Artist at the Busan International Environmental Art Festival (BIEAF) in South Korea — a prestigious international event celebrating artists whose work intersects with global awareness, identity, and contemporary narratives. Her works have been exhibited in international exhibitions and art fairs, and they are held in private collections across the world. Artistic Language Her creative world is shaped by the dynamic interaction between: German Expressionism Psychological Art Symbolism Primitivism These influences manifest in her use of vivid color, bold brushwork, and symbolic forms — allowing emotional truth and philosophical questions to surface organically.
