This work on paper continues to use many established colours which have now adorn many of my paintings. In the Shadow of a Muse, a stained background of dark-brown and oat-meal becomes the setting for an array of irregular shapes which range in colour from deep yellow and azure-blue through to chestnut-brown and maroon-black. What is represented by this arrangement of almost drifting forms, are the possible abstractions of feelings or thoughts. With-in the same vicinity there appears to be darker and more ominous structures. The painting comes backed on heavyweight quality fibre paper in a roll so you can frame the work in a way that suits you.

My interest in art started at an early age. I remember seeing books at home where I grew up in the 1970's. The books were about impressionism, surrealism and my favourite showed art from the DADA movement. In my teens I became obsessed with Andy Warhol and it was at this point that I realised making art was what I wanted to do. The Paintings you see on my Saatchi Art platform are in chronological order. The first paintings were made in 2018. They were created very precisely and accurately and are influenced by minimalist ideas. Through 2019 my work moved away from minimalist abstractions and started to veer more towards an expressionist style. Through 2020 and going into 2021, I am exploring ideas that attempt to strike a balance between a minimalist mindset and the spontaneity of an expressionist. The paintings are created using acrylic on heavyweight paper and sometimes I use charcoal, graphite and oil pastel. In the next few month I will be starting to execute my larger paintings on canvas.
