Field of Gold Painting

My work is influenced predominantly by my travels and the distinctive cultures I encounter which bleed into a perpetual stream of inspiration. I have lived, worked and travelled to South East Asia, Europe and Australia. Originally from Mauritius, I am overwhelmed by nature and I seek to represent a link between man and his surroundings. The forms and colours across my body of work are inspired by the unique tropical traits of the South East Asian region. Guided by foliage, my compositions represent an inherent love for nature as well as a reverence for its vulnerability. I attempt to forge an intermediary between man, nature, time and space through the composition and juxtaposition of abstract botanical forms. I incorporate paradoxical images bold yet delicate, where the abstract space defines the organic shapes. A personal narrative of the different plants native to the places I travel to. My thirst to incite curiosity in nature through the use of vivid colours, shapes and textures is an elemental aspect defining my artwork.
