I come from a small and conservative city in Mexico where few people are able to break free from the status quo. I grew up in a Catholic home with no room for freedom of ideas...I always felt different. While I was praised for my intelligence and academic success, my creative side was overlooked. That’s why I started painting only five years ago as meditation. I loved to see how the paint moved on the canvas, as if it were all my thoughts finally leaving my head. As a teenager, unfairly stigmatised mental health struggles became my constant companions. In December of 2019 something terrible happened to me and I hit rock bottom. That's when I created the first painting where my style as an artist can be perceived, “The Cannibal”. This is when the story of how painting saved my life began, a story of resilience and acceptance. I aim to depict my journey of self-acceptance through my art, embracing duality like day and night, hot and cold, blood and bright colours, always coexisting, just like yin and yang. My art represents the acceptance of the truest-self, which is my meaning of freedom. Each artwork can evoke either terror or joy, depending on where the viewer's focus is, mirroring their reality. My purpose is to reflect the ticking bomb we live in - peace tainted by toxic positivity and hidden hatred, where people are forced to pretend to be fine, encapsulating their minds and resenting those who break free. My desire is true freedom, in a reality where we are all able to acknowledge our inner turmoil and work collectively to unleash our true colours. Serving as a liberation path, where people are able to let go and find the required inner peace to accept everyone and to do what they really want without judgement, appreciating the good and the bad in this beautiful world full of beautiful people we live in. Even though I never formally studied painting, I have a deep emotional connection with my art. Every brushstroke I make is a sincere expression of my soul and an attempt to free the world from judgments, seeking the purest form of expression and authenticity.
