For each painting I offer additional images of the work in a well designed room. Art has an important role in interior design and both are made successful through good composition. Composition and design are what I am always thinking about when I paint. I have explored both realism and abstract painting in larger formats. I have had extensive training in both oil painting and sculpture. After 24 years of making landscape paintings, I am now exploring abstraction and expressive styles in my oil paintings. My interest in abstract painting comes after years of working in realism and contemporary impressionism. I rely on my experience for the importance of space and design. This accumulation of ideas and experiences influences my tonal color harmonies and shapes which contribute to pursuit of mood. I love interior design and find inspiration in color palettes that make interior spaces as interesting as an outdoor experience. I love neutrals and use them as big components to support color arrangements. I depart from classical style to explore big texture and energy and I return back to more narrative subjects with new ideas for weather and light. . The subject of human figure is coming back as a topic for me and I will be posting some of these in the future.. I have focused on tonal landscape most of my adult career and earned some credentials with national awards, collecting magazine editorials and exhibitions in the genre. I have three works in permanent museum collection in Maryland. Other opportunities and experiences include the CAC Gold Medal Exhibition at The Autry with some of Americas best living landscape and figure painters. The drama of land has always been a big influence and carried through all my work into mid career. I like minimalism, tonalism and find these themes carry into my abstract works. . What makes my work unique is resourcing those years painting nature into my abstract space.
