Defined by heritage, forced into exile. Born in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1975 and now living and working in New York City, Maneiro studied various creative techniques from The Yssy Art Academy in Caracas, where he started his artistic training with only 8 years of age, and then continued to graduate in Visual Communication from The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he lived for 15 years. His stay for over two years in Berlin, where he further developed and promoted his work, and especially his brief visit through Moscow, where Maneiro could appreciate closely the new abstract Russian movement, have caused a big impact in his work which evolved into his current artistic style. After 30 years of painting and drawing, Maneiro sites the works of Jackson Pollock, Joan Miró, Hans Hartung, Marcel Duchamp, Wassili Kandinsky, Juan Loyola, Kasmir Malevich, Piet Mondrian, Arturo Millan and Robert Motherwell among others as stylistic contributors for his expressionistic voice. Currently living in New York City Carlos Maneiro continues with his research and work based mostly on the angst caused by the social and political situation of his native Venezuela.
