My name is Elvira Heimann and I mainly live next to Hamburg and the North Sea. I come from an old Huguenot family, originated in France. I grew up with music and art and had an unceasing inquisitiveness to explore the beautiful and the good. In order to compensate the dynamic power in myself, I started very early in life to retreat to the forests with my paint and my little violin. Today I regularly retreat to my studios to bring my professional and private experiences into the pictures. I still work as a psychologist and neurobiologist and explore life as I do it with my artistic work. Many of my pictures were painted while I lived as an artist in residence in different countries. I find my inspirations on journeys across different landscapes. My paintings reflects life for me with its never-ending process of observing, experiencing, interpreting, preserving, reflecting and moving on. In gestural abstraction, the actions take place in a playful way in the context of one's own experience with tools and perceptual processes. In the creative process, the impulses for change arise again and again. Art makes visible and does not depict the visible. The works in the category “Abstract Landscapes” are invented creations that arise on site in the studio without templates, but from stored stimuli. Experimental color, light and surface designs give space for individual interpretations. My motto: But if one has not felt anything, one should not argue about the truth of sentences, because in the dispute about the external form, its best interior is almost destroyed. ("Free" Goethe)
