15 years ago I could not even think that one day I would quit my job and dedicate myself completely to icon painting. I majored in Engineering and this is not the area associated with painting. As to the drawing, painting skills, back then I could only boast about the love of technical drawing. It was even hard to imagine myself with a brush in my hand. At that time, 15 years ago, I got interested in icons, or rather their meaning and symbolism. This curiosity did not go unanswered, and I came across an advertisement for a course in icon painting at the Radruzh School of the Ukrainian Catholic University. Again,I just wanted to learn more about the Ukrainian icon, but the course included both theoretical and practical training, i.e. mastering the skills of painting techniques of the 15th century. In a blink of an eye, I became their student and for 4 years I commuted to another end of my city to take the classes. The course ended, but the love for icon painting only grew, the time for my daily work was occupied by icon painting. That's how one ad and the desire to learn changed my life completely. Soon, I was invited to join the teaching staff of the school and now I have the opportunity to pass on my knowledge to others. Ukrainian iconography is so rich that I want more people to recognize it, pass it on to their descendants and understand the meaning behind one or another element of the icon.
