Albert Kanyek Libre III is an accomplished artist renowned for his innovative approach to merging Chinese and Western artistic techniques. Specializing in Xiěyì (寫意), a spontaneous style of Chinese brush painting, as well as the Lingnan style, he brings a more realistic, dynamic, and vibrant quality to his work, distinguishing it from traditional Chinese brushstroke painting. Albert pursued his studies in brush painting under the guidance of Dr. Ning Yeh, a master brush artist, at Coastline College in Newport Beach, California. His artwork has been exhibited in prestigious locations across the Philippines, China, and the United States, showcasing his growing international presence. Additionally, Albert has attended specialized workshops at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in China, further honing his craft. For over a decade, Albert has studied with renowned masters Dr. Alex Chan Lim and Ceasar Cheng at the Confucius Institute at Ateneo De Manila University. These distinguished mentors, who come from a lineage of acclaimed Chinese masters such as Gao Qi Feng, Zhao Shao An, and Hau Chiok, have played a significant role in shaping Albert's technical expertise and artistic vision. Earlier in his career, Albert trained under Philippine National Artist Rody Herrera, gaining proficiency in charcoal, watercolor, oil painting, cray-pas, and pastels. Notably, Rody Herrera is recognized for designing the Philippine five-peso bill. Albert's work has been prominently featured in the “Chinese Painting in the Philippines” coffee table book (2012), as well as in the International Studies for Chinese Arts publications in 2015 and 2016. His contributions to both the Chinese and Philippine art scenes continue to be recognized, highlighting his ability to blend cultural influences and techniques with exceptional skill.
