Michaela Hanelova works and lives in Prague, Czech Republic. The artist has described her works: „My canvases express my profound understanding of time and place, history and contemporaneity“. To achieve forms, which are impossible to achieve by standard techniques, she developed her on style using ropes dipped in acrylic paint as well as specific style of brushwork used to apply the paint on the canvas. She is known to create without preliminary sketch, allowing her mind to direct her hands… She states: “The fascinating part of my work with ropes is moving on the edge, defining the precise moment when my canvas is complete or risking to ruin it by a single stroke. On the other hand constant repetition of a simple motif gives me an opportunity to move between consciousness and subconscious, clear visions and sudden impulses“. Her works can be seen in private collections mainly in Holland.
