David’s work uses common aspects of advertising and entertainment to recreate the exotic appeal of the items advertised to consumers and plays on their ability to transport us away from our ordinary lives. Often manipulating a mesh of generic stock images, David explores the ways in which we can live out our desires, whether it is in reality or through our online persona. He questions how we choose to interact with one another and how we choose to present ourselves from behind a digital screen. Advertising plays a significant role in this regard by showing how we can have a better life, but this also leads to questions of what is perceived as being successful and what is real. Ultimately, David seeks to find a way of reconciling the fact that time is a lottery and we may not have enough time to succeed in our desires.
