Blue Painting

Amy Schissel was born in Edmonton, Alberta, and currently resides in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She obtained her BFA (2002) and MFA (2009) from the University of Ottawa. She was a finalist in the 2011 RBC Canadian Painting Competition, her work travelling across Canada with the RBC national exhibition tour. A major painting was recently purchased by the Canada Council Art Bank. Schissel has also been the recipient of various Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council, and City of Ottawa grants and was Canada's 2009 Brucebo Fine Arts Award Stipendiate. Schissel's works are included in private and corporate collections, including the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, the Free University of Brussels, Belgium, the Gotland Museum of Fine Arts, Sweden, and the New Zealand Consulate. Schissel has shown both nationally and internationally, including solo exhibitions at the University of Brussels Gallery, Belgium, the Karsh Masson Gallery in Ottawa, Canada, and at Centre d'art Imagier in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada. She will be exhibiting new work in her May solo exhibition at Patrick Mikhail Gallery, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
