One sunny morning, with the light streaming in through the window, the myriad patterns on my cut glass bowl caught my eye. Beautiful rich, orange streaks of colour and light reflected on the tabletop. I just had to paint it! It was quite a challenge as every time I moved my head, the reflections ch...

I’ve been painting since my early teens, but only recently taken the plunge and gone freelance and now teach at my studio at Hanbury Road Craft Centre. Until recently I ran a pop-up gallery called The Canalside Studios in St Andrew’s Square, Droitwich, in the former MeatBox. I mostly paint in watercolours though I also use acrylics, inks and occasionally oils. I also enjoy using aquarelle (watercolour) pencils and pastels. I find watercolour is a great medium and well-suited to capturing the transient light and colour of the English countryside. Pastels are great for animals and portraits and I use acrylics for larger canvasses. I often use pen and wash, especially if I am doing pictures of buildings or to give the image an extra ‘uumph’ ! Sometimes I add other items to paintings, such as petals and leaves. Salt and sand also add an interesting dimension. I hope you enjoy looking at my paintings.
