Avery Ches is a chalk pastel painter and photographer focusing on big sky landscapes and nude forms. Originally from Kentucky, she calls New Orleans, LA her home in the US and spent 3.5 years living in the Mediterranean region. You can follow her daily art practice on Instagram. Avery was born and raised outside Lexington, KY, where she spent considerable time outdoors in the rolling hills of horse country and in the Appalachian Mountains of eastern Kentucky where her extended family lives. She moved to New Orleans for her undergraduate studies at Tulane University where she spent two years in the Naval ROTC and graduated with degrees in Environmental Studies. There, she fell in love with the magic and culture of the city and calls New Orleans home even while traveling and living abroad. After three years of living in Aix-en-Provence, France, and for several months in southern Italy, much of her work has a southern Mediterranean theme - inspired by the endless fields, mountainous landscapes and dream-like, ethereal light of the regions.
