ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This work belongs to a series devoted to transhumanism, as a philosophy and project aiming to augment the human being and make it into a kind of sophisticated machine that can be improved and repaired infinitely. The human figure tends to disappear behind technology, each organ, each part of the body becomes like a puzzle piece that can be recombined endlessly. The “New Adam” shows a man seen from the front, static and completely unstructured, standardized and desexualized, a technological man who has lost his biological nature to become a perfect scientific construction. The title is a reference to a novel by Stanley Weinbaum which explored the creation of a "Homo Superior"... This mixed media work on canvas combines photography, digital composition and acrylic painting (glaze and relief squares). This is a unique piece, framed in black wood (total dimensions: approximately 127 x 102 x 3.5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 80 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
