About The Artwork
The birth mother is in a mindful space. The water is still as if understanding the mother's need for absolute calm in this period before the excruciating spasm. She is tired and uses the edge of the bath to rest her leaden arm. Her birthing canal rotates continuously seeking a reprieve from nature's wondrous torture. The midwife crouches nearby, offering continuous encouragement and soft directions. It has been a long day and the sun gives way to the moonlight. The midwife is unconcerned. She recognises the path towards a perfect birth.
