William Philip Butcher is an artist based in Hertford, England. His work focuses around explorations into the spiritual and mystical experiences he has in and around nature, as well as his curiosity into human caricature. William uses pen & ink to imitate an etching/ wood block style of the Victorian era. While in his paintings he uses bright acrylics to convey impulsive emotions and help him understand his own subconscious. In recent years, William has been hand framing and mounting all his own work to give him complete freedom of bespoke sizes and subject matter. Early inspiration came from the wildness of the Atlantic Ocean and his keen sense of curiosity to explore and study different cultures and personalities. After studying Illustration in Bristol, he continues to search for inspiration in every way he can. Instagram |
