Taurus Drawing

Katrine H. Marrash is a British artist, who resides between London, England and Paris, France, has travelled extensively to many countries in Europe, the United States, and the Middle East, which has transpired in her the fascination and love of ancient monuments and old architectural sites. These travels and her inspiration from these different cultures and their history comprise one of the greatest influences on her works. She started to express a love of drawing and painting since she was a child, having a preference for crayons, chalk, colouring pens, an easel etc. when asked by her parents what she would like for a gift. Her artworks encompass these influences into a unique mixture of intricate juxtaposition of detailed and abstract architectural paintings, incorporating fine linear drawing, and an array of vibrant colours, derived and interpreted from landscapes, and the terrain of the various countries the artist visits, primarily painting with gouache and china ink on paper, which result in exquisite, sensitive, enriching and emotive works, was recognized, applauded and encouraged by established artists and critics to pursue her art. The artist's creative process started with linear and abstract paintings which then metamorphosed into architectural art works. Katrine was commissioned to create a zodiac sign design which has prompted and inspired her to create a unique series of zodiac sign drawings derived from her linear works, and she has also been commissioned for book covers and corporate greeting cards. American educated in London Ms. Marrash holds a B.A. degree in Fashion Merchandising and Business, also studied at Saint Martin's School of Art in London. She has held several one-woman as well as invited to join in group exhibitions at Oxford Union Society at Oxford University, Gallery 202, Carlton House Terrace, Albrizzi Gallery and Kufa Gallery all held in London. Katrine has also been commissioned to create a trophy superb sketch of an abstract representation of a "Linear Horse" to represent the GCC Polo Cup held at the Guards Polo Club - Smiths Lawn, Windsor Great Park for the cover of their program brochure in benefit of The Prince of Wales' "The Princes Trust".
