I was born and raised in Tanzania, East Africa, where my father was one of the early pioneers in wildlife conservation. We grew up surrounded by wildlife and much of our childhood was spent in the African bush. Having also lived in Denmark and Switzerland I moved to London to study fine art at Chelsea School of Art & Ravensbourne College of Art & Design. I now live in Gloucestershire, but return to Tanzania as often as I can to gather material for my artwork - & to feed my soul. The people, wildlife and landscapes of Tanzania have always been my main source of inspiration, but I am also happy to portray the more quirky aspects of rural life here in the UK. I have exhibited in the UK and Tanzania and sold worldwide, in particular to collectors in the US, Australia, Africa & here in the UK. Throughout the years I have tried many different mediums, but have found that the simple combination of pastel pencils and textured paper is definitely my favourite. The pencils allow me to work in fine detail and I love the way I can gradually create the colours I want by blending them as I work. The textured paper adds a great finish to the overall effect.
