Born and raised in war time in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Anel started showing great interest in art from a very early age. Spending all his childhood drawing, it was obvious what his life occupation would be even from the age of three. His connection with art grew stronger with time, and he was known as an artist even in the primary school. During the high school days, besides fine arts, Anel started showing great interest in music, learning to play music instruments, writing and composing. After graduating from high school, he enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Department of Painting and Art Education. In student days, he spent most of his time creating works of fine arts and music, but also started working intensively in the field of filmmaking. The combination of those three has proven to be a winning combination for creating his first works of conceptual art. As a student, he was awarded many times for his achievements, exhibited internationally and spent his student days in several European countries. At the age of 24, he completed his first art series called Death – Eternal Dream or Eternal Awakening. Later, he has created The Road to Unknown series of art, which was also his Master’s degree thesis. After completing his college education, together with his two friends, he started an art collective called HAD. The expression of the collective was consisted of wallcut technique (a form of street art), together with the ambient art, experimenting with light, sound, movement, etc. Their first project called WALLS was consisted of creating pieces of arts, mainly large scale portraits on walls in an abandoned factory, which they have transformed into a gallery space. It grew a huge public attention, and it led to their second big project called Silence. Silence was done in a public space of their home town, it depicts and is dedicated to the victims of Srebrenica genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The collective exhibited and held workshops internationally. After working with HAD, Anel continued working solo and completed his art series called Confessions, consisted of drawings mainly. He is currently working on his sixth and biggest so far series of artworks called 333 process. He has exhibited his works in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Austria, Germany, Egypt, New Zealand and United States. The art of Anel Lepic is inspired by real life events, individual experiences, time, space, dreams, life and death.
