About The Artwork

A pencil drawing by David Carter on Fabriano Artistico watercolour paper and supplied with a hinged and backed picture mount. We live Elley and I in a beautiful valley in a stone cottage with 2 foot thick walls amongst broad massive sweeps of gentle pasture grazes with cattle and sheep . A small brook I've drawn before meanders gentle between wind blown trees. Everywhere there are trees of all shapes and sizes, populated by small singing birds only darting frantically for cover as the local goshawk comes out for dinner. The seasons as they change in our valley are marked by the movement of life. The lambs in the Spring, the skeins of geese that fly in the Winter , the cattle grazing until the biting North wind and the cold stops the grass growing and they go indoors. My drawing shows our little cottage at it's best with huge great summer skies of blue and white. The sun beats down and the light is intense and everything is still and calm and all you can hear are the bees buzzing and the gentle piano like trickle of the brook between the stones as it heads to the Ribble..Perfect English Summer........... wow ! Supplied complete with a white core picture mount .

David Carter is the self made owner of the UK's leading manufacturer company of picture mounts who works in the English Lake District and lives in the Yorkshire Dales. . Trained as a graphic designer in the 1970's by 1984 David was one of the leading illustrators recording in acrylic paint the life and times of the shepherds and native Herdwick sheep hill flocks of sheep in the English Lakes. His original paintings grace the walls of the great and the good as far afield as the USA and the UK. Today with a grown family and a new life David is creating a series of detailed pencil drawings that reflect the people and the landscapes that are there all around him with the love of his family, his partner and the gentle Dales and rugged mountains of the Lakes. His first drawing "High Mountain Days" a dedication to his son and a reflection as to whether he can reach back in time to the high peaks of his exemplary standards of 30 years ago. Like the mountains he loves .. slow and steady back to the top..
