About The Artwork
A pencil drawing by David Carter inspired between the contrast of the fine delicate elegance of the lace arms of Elley's dress and the plain but subtle decoration on the main body of petals and flower against the idea of the hard practical no nonsense clothes she normally has to wear for work. . The light was streaming down and a small breeze casually picked up fine strands of blonde hair and threw them in a wild cascade across her shoulders. So different .... Yet her hands betray and tell the story of hard work , effort and toil. For Elley the delicacy of this dress "with Arms of Lace" , the shining light , the warmth , the hair shimmering and glowing are a welcome relief a world away from her dedicated profession of caring for the sick and the dying who will not feel, see or experience the similar simple pleasures of our life and world again. For them she really is "The Angel" ..........for me "The Angel with Lace Wings.."

David Carter is the self made owner of the UK's leading manufacturer company of picture mounts who works in the English Lake District and lives in the Yorkshire Dales. . Trained as a graphic designer in the 1970's by 1984 David was one of the leading illustrators recording in acrylic paint the life and times of the shepherds and native Herdwick sheep hill flocks of sheep in the English Lakes. His original paintings grace the walls of the great and the good as far afield as the USA and the UK. Today with a grown family and a new life David is creating a series of detailed pencil drawings that reflect the people and the landscapes that are there all around him with the love of his family, his partner and the gentle Dales and rugged mountains of the Lakes. His first drawing "High Mountain Days" a dedication to his son and a reflection as to whether he can reach back in time to the high peaks of his exemplary standards of 30 years ago. Like the mountains he loves .. slow and steady back to the top..
