About The Artwork
Drawn in pencil on conservation white mountboard and supplied with a a hinged and backed picture mount. Inspired by one of my grown up sons who graduated from the English Lakeland Fells to the higher levels of the French Alps. This is a portrait of a relaxed , full at ease young man who with his adventures frightens the life out of the family ..particularly his dad. I wouldn't have it any other way .. he's happy , I'm proud. I hope my viewers who have similar family members who are young , brave and blessed with endless courage will smile .. and quietly reflect on the peace of high mountains and young men.. My first pencil drawing since 1979 and the first of an epic series of "the people of my life". Original works of mine pre 79 full colour were done for the National Trust and many private individuals. Records of the hill life of the English Lake District.

David Carter is the self made owner of the UK's leading manufacturer company of picture mounts who works in the English Lake District and lives in the Yorkshire Dales. . Trained as a graphic designer in the 1970's by 1984 David was one of the leading illustrators recording in acrylic paint the life and times of the shepherds and native Herdwick sheep hill flocks of sheep in the English Lakes. His original paintings grace the walls of the great and the good as far afield as the USA and the UK. Today with a grown family and a new life David is creating a series of detailed pencil drawings that reflect the people and the landscapes that are there all around him with the love of his family, his partner and the gentle Dales and rugged mountains of the Lakes. His first drawing "High Mountain Days" a dedication to his son and a reflection as to whether he can reach back in time to the high peaks of his exemplary standards of 30 years ago. Like the mountains he loves .. slow and steady back to the top..
