The work is a distillation of a personal, spiritual experience. While abstract in nature, the poetic bridge opens the reading up onto a Universal plane. My primary concern lies within life writing: 'zographos'. It is the process of articulating the miracle of the cosmos and my existence within it, through an uninhibited and ever expanding form of calligraphy. It is a crucial part of my being and it grows and becomes larger as I do. ‍ My aim is to bypass the noetic experience by unselfconsciously coupling the raw material with physical incident. ‍ The work is an extension of my personal poetry; a new form for my references to take; an augmentation of my vocabulary. ‍ While brief choices are being made during the materialisation of the painting, the works are not goal-oriented; they're unsystematic and reject over analysis. ‍ The initial gesture paves the way for the rest of the work, seeing what has been brought into existence and responding to it accordingly - unselfconscious syntax that equates free flowing verse. ‍ Rather than offering a dissection of 'the mystery' through overt figuration, the work is an extension of the self; a study of where I am within space and time. It is a thesis, celebrating the breath, the poise and assertion of the Kouroi model within a flailing world.
