Fatimie Ashyrova is a self-taught artist born in Uzbekistan in 1979. Although her passion for art began as a child, life led her down other paths until she returned to painting with a deep devotion at the age of 37. Fatimie now lives in Ireland after being forced to relocate due to the war and started her artistic journey from scratch, learning and mastering techniques in oil, watercolour and acrylic on her own. Her work combines realism, symbolic ornament and textural abstraction. Inspired by the traditions of her homeland, she often replaces human figures with symbolic floral forms in keeping with Islamic aesthetics, telling stories of culture, identity and resilience. In her recent abstract series, she applies layered, textured brushstrokes, creating serene, imaginary worlds inspired by the Quranic vision of Paradise, and creates abstract floral paintings. Fatimie's art invites viewers to experience peace, spiritual reflection and quiet beauty found in both memory and imagination.
