I am a collage artist working in Lincolnshire, UK. I am strongly influenced by the Environment around me. Whilst my subject matter is flowers I do not consider myself a flower painter as my work is about “life” the flowers are the “Mode of transport”. The inspiration for my Collage and Painting come from the Colours, Textures and Pattern I find in the Landscape around me, particularly in Flora. Through my awareness of my surroundings I explore life and regeneration through the changing colours and forms of the annual cycle of growth and it's mortality. In the minutiae of Flower head, leaf, petal and seed head observed throughout the year I locate the textures, shape and colours that inspire me. This work sees further exploration with an ever increasing number of textures (to include lace, tulle, tissue, newspaper, handmade and recycled papers, gauze, sacking, voile, netting, etc) making use of the patterns in those textures. Once the image is completed and left to dry an isolation coats are applied, followed by many coats of removable UVLS protective Varnish. This ensures my work is archival to an excellent standard.
