About The Artwork
I'm inspired by natural forms and textures that have been eroded and worn, such as bits of rock and shells. I seek harmony in composition and color, layering painted wood that I cut with a jigsaw and hand painted silk on a canvas substrate. There is ambiguity between the materials as they blend into each other. I love the spaces between and behind the components in this piece, as thy are layered and set off the background canvas. It creates re a "wall sculpture" that is much more dimensional than a painting.

I live and work in lovely Weehawken, NJ, a small town on the Hudson River. A lifelong artist, I studied at Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and Rome, Italy. Inspired by nature, landscapes and erosion, I love organic shapes. I work intuitively and experimentally, driven by composition, color, and texture. My experiences in textile design and printmaking inform my process, showing up in the pattern, layering and composition of the work.
