Striking black is offset with opulent orange and mouth-watering hot pink on an elegant hand-made wall sculpture covered a variety of different kinds of glass and golden mirror. An undulating, unusual work thats shape was inspired by a scrunched piece of paper. An ancient and enduring art form now pays homage to a throwaway society. Onyx was originally part of my Discarded Collection which explored transience through permanence. It is featured in my book ‘Sculptural Secrets for Mosaic’. A signed copy of the book will be included with the Certificate of Authenticity and details of NRAA registration (National Registry of Australian Artists). Onyx has a hook on the back for immediate hanging. It is signed and dated on the reverse.

Artist Statement “When the paint is dry my work is just beginning”. The thought that paint could be capable of independence from the canvas has been the driving force behind Julee’s art practice. It led to her process of creating paintings on plastic waiting for the paint to dry before she removes it. The unsupported material has an inherent flexibility that allows Julee to investigate her interest in textile, collage, and sculptural techniques. Through cutting, layering, moulding, weaving, and gluing, each creation is the result of many hours of meticulous and detailed work. An artist since childhood, Julee holds a BFA (Sculpture and Painting) from Curtin University, Perth. She is also the author of the book Sculptural Secrets for Mosaic (Schiffer Publishing Ltd, USA). Her works can be found in collections, both public and private, worldwide.
