Marilyn Monroe was a significant icon of popular culture. She was a sex symbol to many and in the end that contributed to her demise. In this painting I wanted to take her beauty and portray an underlying darkness. She was human like the rest of us, skin and bone, but her skull is exposed with a chrome shine as if she were a trophy. I wanted the name to be tongue in cheek and reflect the culture we live in now in a nonchalant way, in a kind of "like whatever" way where it's more important to be noticed than personal well being.
