This photograph is from series "Faded Ice", printed at high quality museum paper Hahnemuhle. About the series: While conducting experiments with frozen natural objects and colored ice in a home setting during 2023 year, I observed that a small amount of ice placed in a silicon mold completely disappeared, leaving behind only the molecules of paint and the photographic object. Upon investigating the potential reasons for the ice's disappearance, I discovered that the phenomenon is known as sublimation, wherein ice transforms directly into water vapor (gas) without undergoing the typical melting process. This sublimation process occurs in frost-free refrigerators in domestic environments. Intrigued by this observation, I delved into the natural processes of ice sublimation, discovering that in nature, it is referred to as evaporation when ice and snow transform directly into water vapor. This natural occurrence, with its counterpart in domestic conditions, significantly influences the global climate by affecting the Earth's surface albedo, which is determined by the amount of ice and snow present. Through my observations and exploration of the physics governing the transformations of water states, I embarked on crafting pieces of ice designed to vanish under various physical states and temperature conditions. I capture images of these transient artworks, which, by their nature, endure only briefly before dissipating. This artistic endeavor serves as a means to draw attention to the ongoing natural processes associated with global climate change.
