Watercolor, charcoal, soft pastel and gouache on paper. I started to work from a photo collage of different elements. I wanted to recreate an atmosphere of beginning of the century (20th) and recall the formal idea of art salon. In the back, is hanging a painting of El Lissitzky. He is one of my favourite artists but also the artist that started to conceive the artwork within a space and not only as something decorative hanging on a museum´s wall. His choice war rebellious and surely it was a strike against the rules of the art world and the art market of the time. This topic, is however still very actual: how much does the artist depend from the art market? There is a girl sitting on the table. The clothes suggest that she might be a prostitute and actually, the room could also be a corner in a private house of pleasure. On the arms of the girl we see two tattoos: one bird and one cage. One as symbol of freedom and one as symbol of confinement. There is suggested analogy between the role of the girl and the role of the painting. It is about freedom of art. The technique used is watercolors and charcoal mainly. But among those I´ve used pastel, acrylic and gouache. The work is colored in many layers on resistant scenography paper. It is not easy to have a great definition in the photo so the image can be a little blurry.
